The iNITIAL SITUATION

PHILIPS Kitchen Appliances focuses on delivering the most advanced and innovative solutions to help consumers improve their cooking process and make their food planning easier with data-driven solutions.

In particular, the main objectives of our in-house team are to offer consumers the opportunity to prepare "healthy homemade food" in an inspiring, fun and convenient way and to support them in living a sustainable life in all aspects around food – from how they source their food, how they transform it into healthy, nutritious meals and how they can store and use their food effectively to avoid food waste as much as possible.

As we are always looking for inspiration, knowledge, solutions and partners to help us make our products even more customer-friendly and better, we would like to invite the creative IMM community to tinker with us on a new solution that makes cleaning our household appliances as easy as possible or even enables self-cleaning.

Our challenge

The topic: We are a leading developer and seller of tabletop kitchen appliances, namely food processors, jar blenders and air fryers. These products are developed to support our consumers in all preparation work before or during the cooking process. One of the biggest dissatisfiers of all small kitchen appliances is the need of cleaning after usage.

Our challenge is to find novel ways for making cleaning as easy as just rinse the parts, or even have solutions for “self cleaning programs” of this devices by e.g. adding water and soap and a touch of a button.

The taks: Develop and propose novel solutions for easiest cleaning of food processors, jar blenders and/or air fryers. The result could be an innovative concept, and/or a demonstrator with special process, feature or accessory.

Perspectives

We provide support throughout the entire development process with our industry and expert know-how. If required, we will also be happy to provide the necessary kitchen appliances and – in the case of selected concepts with great potential – a pre-defined material budget for the realisation of hardware prototypes/demonstrators.

If exciting points of contact arise between us and there is mutual interest, we can imagine continuing the project beyond the end of the four-month period.
