The initial situation

The energy transition is the central task in combating climate change. In order to master this great challenge, talented, cooperative and well-trained people are needed in this field.

For this reason, the FH Wiener Neustadt (Campus Wieselburg), in cooperation with the MakerSpace[A] and many other supporters and network partners, has set up the "Clean Tech Club" project, funded by the FFG and the klima + energie fonds, which aims to get young people excited about the energy transition.

In the course of this, we would like to set up youth groups that are keen to deal with this topic in their free time and provide particularly innovative and creative learning spaces for them.

Our challenge

We invite the IMM community to work with us on the conception and realisation of 3 learning spaces. Specifically, we are thinking of developing the following three approaches:

Space 1: Energy Trailer

We want to show the energy system of the future on a trailer. The Energy Trailer is intended to offer a varied and exciting programme for entire schools, clubs or communities (experiments, station operation, models, role plays).

The aim is:

  • to develop a particularly educational and exciting programme that can be realised on the trailer,

  • to build stations that make unforgettable experiences possible, and

  • to develop ideas and concepts that will help us to successfully promote the Energy Trailer and make it extremely popular.

Space 2: Innovation Lab

Our second approach is:

  • to find interesting research questions around the topic of the energy transition, the answers to which could contribute significantly to combating climate change, and

  • then to jointly set up a corresponding experiment that will help us to approach this answer.

Space 3: Innovation Garage

Our third approach is:

  • to jointly develop ideas for how we could generate energy in an alternative way in the future, and on the basis of this, to build initial models in the garage and try them out, or also to

  • to develop completely new project ideas for the own city, with the help of which one can inspire a particularly large number of people with the idea of the energy transition, and then to implement them cooperatively. This could be, for example, an educational trail, a podcast or a cycling cinema ...

FH Wiener Neustadt

The FH Wiener Neustadt is one of the top educational institutions in the country. Our university comprises seven study locations, which are characterised by their unique atmosphere, high-quality education and diverse opportunities for personal and professional development.

The degree programmes look back on a 140-year tradition and are offered in cooperation between the FH Wiener Neustadt and the Rudolfinerhaus Campus.

MakerSpace[A]

The MakerSpace[A] is a makerspace in the Remise in Amstetten - a place where everyone who has ideas, is looking for ideas or wants to implement something can come together and exchange ideas. In addition to innovative equipment and a rich workshop programme, the Space also has an entire network of experts who are happy to offer advice and support in the development of projects and prototypes.

The spectrum of possibilities and topics in the Space ranges from 3D printing, 3D design, eMobility, photography and video technology to electronics, wood and metal processing to laser cutting / engraving, programming and pottery and ceramics.

In addition, particularly exciting programme items will be offered for children and schools. But there is also a rich programme of events for adults, ranging from DevTreffs for the local developer scene to all kinds of events in various focus areas.
