What is it about
+++
Industry meets Makers is an open innovation community building and matchmaking format that essentially involves top industrial companies posting challenges – so-called "briefings" – in future tech areas such as IoT, robotics, AI, blockchain, 3D printing and the like, and inviting makers – freelance developers, hobbyists, pupils, students, SMEs or start-ups – to solve them together with them as part of an approximately 4-month process. The aim is that, ideally, a business deal will be created afterwards to the benefit of both sides. This can be realised, for example, in the form of job and contract awards, start-ups, participations, joint market launches, sales/marketing/production cooperations and the like.

INDUSTRY & TECH PARTNERS
As a company or other organisation, it is possible to contribute a “briefing” (= challenge plus prizes) that can be worked on together, and/or to provide technologies inclusive expert know-how that are needed to solve the tasks (hardware, software, materials, machines and/or tools).
CREATIVE MAKERS & INNOVATORS
Anyone who wants to can become a maker and work with the experts and briefing partners to find solutions to the briefing topics. The personal time investment can be flexibly adapted to one's own possibilities, as the programme is designed according to the hop-on-hop-off principle.
UNIVERSITIES, UAS & SCHOOLS
Universities, universities of applied sciences and schools can participate with their students and pupils during the summer semester or only in the course of special event formats, such as boot camps, beach camps, hackathons, etc., and may also include the activity in their official teaching programme.
TECH EXPERTS & MAKER COACHES
You can participate as an expert who supports the teams with expertise in working on the topics and/or subsequently helps them to set up their project in such a way that it can be successfully implemented (keyword: financing, funding, start-ups, business modelling, industrialisation, etc.).
LOCAL NETWORK & SPACE PARTNERS
You can participate in the role of a local network and/or space partner who organises IMM activities in your own region, publicises IMM topics, members, services and dates in the local network and/or provides necessary spaces and machines for the participants in the immediate vicinity.
SPONSORS, SUPPORTERS & MULTIPLIERS
There is the option to support IMM activities as a sponsor – with monetary means, prizes (jobs, products, tools, infrastructure, money, vouchers, etc.), media performance, drinks, snacks, creative contributions to "maker incentive packages", provision of local streaming equipment, etc.
