The Challenge

Virtually every device available in our daily life has somehow become connected to the Internet or is on the rise to become an IoT device. Wouldn’t it be great to have an orchestra of machines, vehicles, buildings, infrastructure facilities or personal objects equipped with sensing mechanisms that enable building a secure and trustworthy data service ecosystem? An ecosystem that helps providing an understanding of how public space works and that develops new answers to the needs of all its inhabitants for a sustainable ecological future. 

At Infineon, Tributech and Magenta, this future is already becoming reality. We develop sensor and security applications as well as connectivity solutions that enable simple and effortless user interactions with all kinds of smart devices. Bridging the gap between the real and digital world, our technologies are developed to make life easier, safer, greener and more efficient. Our intuitive sensing, security and connectivity solutions are at the very core of this mission. Reflecting our belief that the essential value of those technologies lies in making our lives more convenient through seamless, natural interactions between people and devices, our aim is to leave you free to focus on what really matters in life.

Your Mission

Develop an innovative IoT application using security and cloud technology from Tributech, LTE-M or NB-IoT connectivity from Magenta and application processors and sensing devices by Infineon. We are looking for smart solutions that turn captured information into actions and insights, reinventing the status quo, and making our lives smarter and more sustainable. Demonstrate a novel use-case and share it with the global community.

Application ideas

  • Air-quality monitoring for smart buildings and infrastructure (Infineon CO2-sensor)

  • Energy monitoring/smart metering (Current sensor for Infineon shield2go)

  • Environmental parameter tracking

  • Smart counting (Infineon radar-sensor)

  • Liquid level sensing (Infineon capacitive-sensor)

  • Smart access – unlocking vehicles/machines for PayPerUse (Infineon smart-card)

Our portfolio for your innovation

Challenge flow

From all applications during the registration phase, the best (max. 10) will be selected and supported with hardware plus expert know-how of Infineon, Tributech and Magenta experts. Latter is available via email, forum discussions and during workshops.

As a result of the challenge a functional prototype is highly desirable and appreciated. However, foundational work, like porting the supporting libraries to a new platform is equally valued. Depending on the result the project could be continued as a Master Thesis, PhD topic or even a new internal project. Infineon, Tributech and Magenta are committed to provide development kits, connectivity, and platform access to support the go-to-market of very promising projects. Innovative startups will also have the chance to initiate a partnership.

Application

Please apply to be part of the Infineon * Tributech * Magenta Industry meets Makers track, as hardware and technical support is exclusive. Your application should consist of your name, contact data, your skill track record (like your GitHub repository), and an overview of your concept (one A4 page). If you don't have an idea yet, you can still decide at the start of Industry meets Makers what to do exactly. However great and realistic concepts in advance will be preferred.

Next steps

Individually organised 1:1 and group meetings as well as ongoing development of innovative solutions in coordination with the Infineon * Tributech * Magenta team until the Best of #IMM2022 event on October 20th, 2022 at the Digital Days in the Impact Hub Vienna and online.
