Industry meets Makers & Tech Experts
An intensive 4-days co-creation session focusing on iot, ai & blockchain
+++
From June 25th until June 28th we will organise our first future tech bootcamp on internet of things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain (BC) in cooperation with the UAS St. Pölten (FH St. Pölten), the SMARTUP initiative, the Federation of Austrian Industry Lower Austria (IV Niederösterreich), DigitalCity.Wien, the Zukunftsakademie Mostviertel and further partners at the UAS St. Pölten (Matthias Corvinus-Straße 15, 3100 St. Pölten).
This next experimental IMM event format will be an intensive 4-days development session enabling industry and makers to co-create together with the support of tech experts as well as innovative tools and infrastructure (developer kits, chips, access to rapidM2M technology, LoRaWAN, cloud, relevant data and blockchain platforms as well as the electronics laboratory of the FH St. Pölten, etc.) new IoT, AI & blockchain solutions with real practical relevance.
We will work on two different approaches
+++
APPROACH 1: IOT AND AI AND BLOCKCHAIN
Co-creation of one end-to-end use case combining the advantages of AI, IoT and blockchain to facilitate improved and more transparent traceability and logistics models for the industry sector.
We want to focus on products changing their characteristics during the carriage. The banana is intended only as an example.
+++
Approach 2: IoT or AI or Blockchain
Development of innovative solutions for specific practical challenges of the industry, which can be solved with the help of internet of things, artificial intelligence and blockchain in new ways.
The starting point are the 14 #IMM2019 briefing topics of our current briefing partners. Most of them deal with these technologies anyway (see below and on www.industrymeetsmakers.com/briefingthemen) in a direct or indirect way. Beside this we invite further companies – especially SMEs – to let us know how we could make their life easier with the support of new future tech applications.
Infineon Austria: Securing IoT with the support of TrustX chips and sensors
Salzburg Research & Polycular: Token 4 sustainable city services
Worthington Industries: Digital supply chain
Worthington Industries: Traceability – the smart steel cylinder
Nokia Austria: Smart parking in the smart city – think different!
Magna Steyr: End of life – second use
Magenta Business: New digital services for apartment houses

programme for our 2 MAIN development days on june, 26TH and June, 27th
OUR FOCUS
On Wednesday and Thursday we will focus on the development of innovative solutions for our AI+IoT+blockchain combination experiment as well as for the different AI, IoT and blockchain challenges of our industry partners – with the continuous support of our technology partners, themed pop up trainings and deep dive sessions with our tech experts plus fixed brainstorming, Q&A and input sessions with our industry partners.
BOOTUP & REBOOT MEETINGS
On both days we will start in the morning at 10 am and in the afternoon after our lunch break at 2 pm with short bootup and reboot meetings by inviting all involved teams to contribute a mini recap of their development status and planned next steps to improve the exchange of ideas, tips and experiences between all participants as well as to make it easier for lateral entrants and newcomers to hop on.
COMMUNICATION TOOL
Furthermore we opened a new topic group in our Industry meets Makers slack channel to support our ongoing conversation process during the bootcamp runtime. It can be complemented by further special topic groups if needed. All registered participants got/get an invitation to this channel.
EVENING PROGRAMME
On Wednesday in the evening we will arrange a little barbecue and on Thursday evening again a relaxed get-together with snacks plus beer and soft drinks sponsored by the Egger private brewery.
INFRASTRUCTURE
Our technology partners will support us with the mentioned technology stack (please find a more detailed description below).
We can use the electronics laboratory (3.01) and further rooms on the 3rd and 1st floor (3.07 + 3.09 + 1.09) as well as the small assembly hall on the ground floor, wich will become our chill, lounge and meetup area during these days. This area will be equipped with chill furniture, cool drinks, snacks and sport equipment, like frisbees, beach volley balls, etc., which can be used on site.
Nearby is the Ratzelsdorfer lake – maybe an interesting hot spot for those who need a little refreshment break from time to time. :)
PLEASE DON’T FORGET!
To take your own laptop, tablet and mobile phone with you! This is something we cannot provide for all participants from our side. And in case you have interesting boards, sensors or other tools at home which could fit in well somehow, please don’t hesitate to bring them with you, too.
If you are interested in delving into AI, frameworks might be required that can cause quite some download time. We recommend to download (ideally pre-install) the following on your development machine in advance to ease your start into the topic and save time: Anaconda Package Manager, python 3 (install via anaconda), tensorflow, sci kit learn & pandas. Detailed instructions can be found here: https://machinelearningmastery.com/setup-python-environment-machine-learning-deep-learning-anaconda/
