Industry meets makers

+++

Industry meets Makers (IMM) is an open innovation initiative that connects leading industrial companies with creative minds from the maker scene – start-ups, SMEs, freelance developers, designers, students, researchers, hobbyists and more. Through real-world tech challenges (so-called “briefings”) in fields like AI, robotics, IoT and Industry 4.0, both sides co-create innovative solutions over a five-month collaboration phase, with the goal of launching lasting partnerships.

#IMM2025/26 Program Overview

+++

We are currently preparing to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Industry meets Makers as part of our new Twin City Hub initiative. The anniversary program will launch with an opening event in Bratislava on October 30, 2025, and culminate in a Best of IMM showcase in Vienna on March 26, 2026. Challenge topics are currently being defined, and program planning is in full swing. If you are interested in contributing or participating, we invite you to get in touch or register for the main events.

PARTICIPATION OPTIONS

+++

INDUSTRY & TECH PARTNERS

As a company or other organisation, it is possible to contribute a “briefing” (= challenge plus prizes) that can be worked on together, and/or to provide technologies inclusive expert know-how that are needed to solve the tasks (hardware, software, materials, machines and/or tools).

Creative makers & innovators

Anyone who wants to can become a maker and work with the experts and briefing partners to find solutions to the briefing topics. The personal time investment can be flexibly adapted to one's own possibilities, as the programme is designed according to the hop-on-hop-off principle.

Universities, UAS & schools

Universities, universities of applied sciences and schools can participate with their students and pupils during the summer semester or only in the course of special event formats, such as boot camps, beach camps, hackathons, etc., and may also include the activity in their official teaching programme.

Tech experts & maker coaches

You can participate as an expert who supports the teams with expertise in working on the topics and/or subsequently helps them to set up their project in such a way that it can be successfully implemented (keyword: financing, funding, start-ups, business modelling, industrialisation, etc.).

Local network & space partners

You can participate in the role of a local network and/or space partner who organises IMM activities in your own region, publicises IMM topics, members, services and dates in the local network and/or provides necessary spaces and machines for the participants in the immediate vicinity.

Sponsors, supporters & multipliers

There is the option to support IMM activities as a sponsor – with monetary means, prizes (jobs, products, tools, infrastructure, money, vouchers, etc.), media performance, drinks, snacks, creative contributions to "maker incentive packages", provision of local streaming equipment, etc.
